Political Action Committee (CRAMP-PAC)
Why A PAC?
As the events following September 11th have proven, our aviation freedoms and privileges are at risk and must be protected if pilots are going to have access to both our aircraft and the skies. All pilot organizations have become more critical to create strong united voices speaking in harmony for common goals. For this task we use a coalition to promote those common goals.
As our name states, we are that Coalition for Responsible Airport Management and Policy. One of the Coalition’s most powerful tools is its Political Action Committee (CRAMP-PAC). The PAC allows the local aviation community to focus our united voices on local political candidates and office holders in Silicon Valley to protect and advance our aviation freedoms and privileges. The PAC’s impact is through the political contributions that we provide those candidates, the face-to-face meetings we attend with them and the due diligence to determine the candidates’ voting records and their intentions toward General Aviation.
The only source of funds that we have is your donations to the PAC. These funds allow us to make contributions to the campaigns of pro-aviation candidates, and also to keep you informed of the candidates that deserve your vote. With our track record of promoting deserving candidates, the PAC now receives calls from candidates asking for our support and we determine if that support is appropriate.
As a charitable non-profit organization, the Coalition is forbidden from using its regular membership dues for political contributions. The Coalition’s regular dues cover the ongoing direct costs associated with educating elected officials and the public at large about the importance and benefits of General Aviation, promoting responsible and fair policies for the users of our local regional airports, and, when necessary, litigation to uphold our rights.
The Coalition’s PAC is the important addition that allows us to offer direct financial support to the campaigns of those local candidates who best represent the interests of General Aviation in Silicon Valley. It is only through the efforts of both organizations that the Coalition can be effective in supporting General Aviation, and your contributions to the PAC provide us with the means to make that happen.
